  1. I don NOT believe Caesar should've been killed. In the play, Julius Caesar, Caesar is killed by a group of conspirators when he did nothing wrong. The conspirators think that when Caesar is crownded, he will be too powerful. Caesar did not deserve to die. He loved the Roman people just as much as Brutus did. For example, when Mark Antony says, "You all did see that on the Lupercal / I thrice presented him a kingly crown, / which he did thrice refuse" (III, ii, 96-98). Caesar was presented with a crown, and he refused it three times. Caesar was not wanting to take over Rome and be a dictator. He wanted to do what the Roman wanted. Sure, Caesar was arrogant, but he did not deserve to die just because of that. He was not an ambitious person. The conspirators had no proof that said that Caesar was going to be too powerful when he becomes king. In my opinion, no one deserves to die, especially over something like this. He was innocent and what the conspirators did was straight wrong.

  2. No, I don’t think Caesar deserved to die. I believe he was a great leader and did many great things for Rome. Caesar supported Rome and it’s people, he brought peace and stability and prevented Rome from destruction. In the quote by Anthony during Caesar’s funeral, he states, “I thrice presented him a kingly crown. Which he did thrice refuse.” (3.2.82-96)Caesar was offered the crown three times, and refused it. I don’t think Caesar should have been killed for taking charge and making Rome stronger and wealthier. Yes, Caesar did want to make Rome into a dictatorship, and have full control, but I think he did it for the welfare of Rome. The conspirators killed Caesar because of fear. Brutus said, “As he was valiant, I honour him; but, as he was ambitious, I slew him”.(3.2.27) Brutus outright states that he is jealous and afraid of Caesars determination to change Rome. Brutus and the others stabbed Caesar to death because they were afraid he would be crowned and have complete control over Rome. Killing Caesar was not an honorable thing to protect Rome, it was an escape to save what they believed was more important. I think the conspirators could have thought up a better way to stop Caesar without killing him.

  3. In my opinion, I do not think Caesar deserved to die. The only reason Caesar was murdered was because the conspirators didn’t like Caesar and they were willing to do anything to keep him from accepting the crown. Unfortunately, this led to the manipulation of Brutus (who was Caesar’s friend) and eventually the murder of Caesar. In the play, Brutus was manipulated and persuaded by the character Cassius. In the beginning Cassius never liked Caesar, so he thought he could tell Brutus that it would benefit Rome if he became king. “There was a Brutus once that would have brook'd / The eternal devil to keep his state in Rome / As easily as a king” (Act I Scene II). After their argument, Brutus truly believed that he would be a better king than Caesar. So, he decided to go along with Cassius’s plan. Caesar was an honorable and humble man who obviously loved Rome more than he was given credit for. He was doing nothing wrong. The citizens of Rome loved him as well. The conspirators, Cassius and his men, were the only ones scared of having Caesar as king. They thought Caesar was very ambitious and that would hurt Rome. “I thrice presented him a kingly crown / Which he did thrice refuse” (Act III Scene II). The fact that Caesar rejected the crown three times does not mean he is ambitious. Caesar was being humble. The conspirators did not have any good or respectable reasons to murder Caesar.

  4. In the tragedy "Julius Caesar" by william Shakespeare, a group of conspirators plotted against and murdered Juilius Caesar. i do not believe that he deserved the untimely death he had received. the conspirators claimed that caesar was too ambitious and that his rule would send rome spiraling into a period of economic turmoil and causing the people of the general public to become slaves to him. the conspirators even went as far as convincing one of caesars most trusted friends, brutus. brutus was not at ease with the idea at first, but he was eventually manipulated into becoming a conspirator, and he eventually became the leader of the conspirators. after the killing, caesars second hand man marc antony asked if he could speak at the funeral and brutus said he was allowed to as long as he said nothing bad towards the conspirators, brutus spoke before antony and explained that he had loved rome more than he loved caesar and caesar gaining the power over the people of rome would be a disservice to the city. he explained that caesar was too ambitious and he won over the minds of the people. antony however explained that caesar was not ambitious, he was offered the crown three times during luprical and he had refused it every time. caesar did not deserve to die, i agree with antony, he was not too ambitious, and physical weaknesses such as epilepsy and lack of the skill to swim could be overcome. caesar should have at least been given a chance to lead, and after seeing how he had led the city, the decision should have been made on whether he should be killed or not.

  5. I think that Caesar did not deserve to die. Brutus and all of the other conspirators wanted to kill him because they did not want him to become the emperor of Rome. It was a murder even though they made it look like an assassination which was a sacrifice for the better of Rome. They thought that Caesar was a tyrant and would be too powerful if he became the emperor of Rome. He denied the crown three times which shows that he wasn’t a tyrant who was power hungry. He was probably going to be a normal emperor like the rest of the Romans. He was a little ambitious like his soliloquy showed when he was talking about him being like a lion. The conspirators never got an opinion from the peasants. They all might have wanted Caesar to be emperor even though it seems like they all just celebrate for whoever is the current leader. In the end, it seems like the conspirators killed Caesar just because they did not like him which isn’t a reason to kill someone.

  6. I do not think that Caesar should deserved death. In the beginning of the play, Cassius was telling Brutus that he should be king. Cassius said that Brutus is just as good as Caesar and there is no reason that he could not become king. Still, people praised Caesar. He had his flaws though such as being weak, having the fever in Spain and having epilepsy. His biggest flaw was that he was too ambitious. The conspirators felt that a man with all of these flaws should not become the ruler of Rome. The conspirators originally consisted of Casca, Cassius, Metellus Cimber, and Caius. They wanted to make the killing of Caesar to be a sacrifice for Rome. Later on, Cassius used his manipulative personality to convince Brutus, one of Caesars friends, to join the conspiracy. These flaws should not matter because they are not doing any damage to Rome. In Mark Antony’s speech at the funeral, he repeats the phrase “But Brutus says he was ambitious and Brutus is an honorable man.” Mark Antony felt that he could have been king. “When the poor have cried, Caesar hath wept.” This describes Caesars personality in a way that he feels for everyone no matter who they are. Also, they could not judge how Caesar would be as a king because he never got to do it. He turned down the crown three times. No one knows how he would actually be. Maybe he would have made Rome an even better place that they couldn’t even imagine.

  7. In William Shakespeare’s, “Julius Casear”, a group of conspirators plotted to kill the soon to be King, Julius Caesar. They believed he was too weak and ambitious to take the crown.. I do not think Caesar was deserving of death. He didn’t do anything to give the conspiracy a reason to want to kill him. They thought it was best for Rome that he died so that Brutus could take the crown. He did many good things for the people of Rome and had the personality of a true and honorable leader. He was going to make public recreation centers and do so many great things as King. Just because he wasn’t the strongest man and had epilepsy didn’t give them the right to murder him. They never gave him a chance as King and assumed that he would be a failure. This is why I don’t think he deserved to be killed.

  8. In William Shakespeare’s tragedy, “Julius Caesar” there were a group of men called the conspirators who made a plan to kill Julius Caesar. The reason they wanted to kill Caesar is because they said he was too ambitious, and they needed to “sacrifice” him for the good of Rome. I do not think they should have killed Caesar because they had no real evidence why he would be bad for Rome. The conspirators reason to kill Caesar was that they said he was too ambitious, yet, Mark Antony stated all of the reasons why he was not ambitious. How Caesar was a good man by weeping for the poor, bringing land to Rome, and refusing the crown three times. Even in his will Caesar left money to each person and land to a few. “He was my friend, faithful and just to me: But Brutus says he was ambitious; And Brutus is an honourable man. He hath brought many captives home to Rome Whose ransoms did the general coffers fill: Did this in Caesar seem ambitious? When that the poor have cried, Caesar hath wept: Ambition should be made of sterner stuff: Yet Brutus says he was ambitious; And Brutus is an honourable man.” This was a speech from Mark Antony that stated why Caesar was not ambitious, why he should not have been killed, and why they should all go after the conspirators. Another reason why I think Caesar did not deserve to be killed is because, he never did anything bad! There was not one part where he killed someone, or wished bad on someone. He did not do a single bad thing, yet people still find a reason to murder him.

  9. Cailyn:
Caesar was in no way deserving death. Some people might say that Caesar was too ambitious but was he really? Did Caesars ambitions put the state of Rome in danger? Caesar loved Rome as Mark Anthony told us in his speech to the people. Caesar brought many Captives to Rome which made them prosper in wealth. When the poor would weep Caesar would cry for them and would such an ambitious man be offered the crown three times and turn it down three times? If Caesar did not care about the people of Rome then why did he each give them their own sum of money and make all of his land public places for the people of Rome to gather. I think Caesars death was an unjust tragedy.

  10. I personally do not feel that Caesar deserved to die. The conspirators claimed themselves as sacrificers not butchers
however they were really killing Caesar for their own benefit and no one else. That is why when Marc Antony showed them
the body they understood what the truth was behind Caesar's death. I feel as though what the conspirators did was a
shameful act and there should be consequences for what they did. Caesar was not too ambitious even though Brutus said he
was. Caesar denied the crown three times. Was this ambition? Even though Caesar fainted at Lupercal he had the falling
sickness (epilepsy) so therefore he was not weak. Caesar did not deserve to die but the conspirators did for what they had
done to Caesar. Even in the real life story of Caesar where he is murdered by his friends I still feel that every man
deserves a trial and should be innocent until proven guilty. However, Caesar was not in this case.

  11. In William Shakespeare's "Julius Caesar", Caesar was the ruler of Rome and some people did not believe he deserved this title. A group of men known as the conspirators thought so, that he did not have what it takes to rule Rome. These men plotted to kill him as a "sacrifice" for the good of Rome, because Caesar is weak. Caesar has almost drowned swimming and has epilepsy which causes him to feint, so the men told each other of their plan to sacrifice him and did so.
Caesar did not deserve to be killed, just because of the close-mindedness of a group of men and a conspiracy of him being weak. A good ruler or a bad ruler, he did not deserve to be murdered.
This may have helped Rome in this sacrifice or harmed it but Caesar deserved life, he was not an evil man. These men took "The good of Rome" in their own hands and went to an extremity that was the murder of Julius Caesar. These men deserve any consequences that be given to them and the killing of Julius Caesar was not justified.
